"This
child does not learn Like others though He is intelligent" Mme Marianne
Klees
The Lebanese Center for Special Education (CLES) is a nonprofit
organisation created by the Lebanese and expatriates. Its goal is to help all
the children who are learning disabled, the "forgotten" children of Lebanon.
They risk developing a spiral of failure by having a negative image of
themselves and undergoing progressive marginalization if they don't receive
professional individualized help early enough.
My personal experience
leads me to reiterate the following message: the faster we detect the trouble,
the more successfully we can help the child. CLES wishes to offer theses
children the chance to overcome theses problems, and to give the best of
themselves. Instead of becoming a burden to their family and to society, they
can become active ad productive and contribute to the development of the
country.
This is the reason why CLES has just opened the first Center
for Diagnosis and Treatment of Learning Disabilities (CITTA) in Lebanon. The
following step will be to create a specialized school for the learning disabled
(Les Blés d'Or) to address the needs of those among them who are
suffering from being integrated in ordinary schools. Lebanon and the Arab
countries will certainly from theses structures.
The task ahead of us
is huge. Every human or financial contribution is not only welcome but crucial.
